BURMA (MYANMAR) CRISIS

Pray with us for Burma (Myanmar). Hit by the worst cyclone in the history of Asia, this nation and its people have been devastated. We are in the process of raising funds for the rebuilding of houses, estimated at $750US for each home. The agency we are partnering with in Burma also facilitates three orphanages, of which all have been severely damaged. One has had the roof completely blown off. This agency has started to feed around 500 people in one area and is looking into supplying meals to 2,000 more in another place. They do this in partnership with other organisations, which help to cook and distribute the food. Obviously this is only a small example of the relief effort that needs to happen. Please pray that all people needing assistance will be reached.
MercyWorks staff members are standing by to go into Burma as soon as we are given permission by the government. We are planning to send in medical teams as well as grief counsellors. Please contact MercyWorks international office if you are interested in being a part of a disaster response team. Volunteers will need to have had experience in disaster relief situations. |
